Unhinged

Anxiety is unhinging me

Crawling underneath my skin

Grabbing hold of my heart

And strangling until it gives.

She rears her fangs on my wrist

Like a relentless punishment

For a crime written in my DNA

And hammered into me

By the slippery road of life.

As I suffocate, she reminds me:

“This is what you deserve.”
