Swimming in the Sky

Swimming in the sky

We are surrounded by blinding light.

The clouds are anemone;

Speckled across the scene

Like decorative baubles.

We bob across the horizon,

A brave ship plodding on,

Occasional turbulence

As gentle yet frightening

As periodic ocean waves.

It seems as though

The world has turned upside-down.

Placid blue above and cloudy sky below.

We float through oblivion

The swimmer lost in the billowing air.

And we begin to wonder:

Is there more to this world than what is out there?
